This wooden blending board is a word work tool used to practice spelling. This aligns with the UFLI Scope and Sequence and is a key component of a structured literacy phonics routine that is using evidence-based practices.
Use this tool to reduce students' cognitive load when practicing spelling skills by separating them from printing/letter formation skills.
The beginner board is removable so as to not overwhelm early learners. Differentiate the instruction for each student by providing a learning tool that can be individualized with the specific letters and sounds each person is working on. The phoneme tiles are placed into word building trays, with 3, 4 or 5 sound boxes to choose from.
Keep everything organized in the packing box, including smaller boxes for each set of tiles. Learners are sure to be engaged!
